samenvatting: Memorable messages, or messages people recall for a long period of time and identify as influential in identity development or behavioral assessment, provide a framework to address both adolescent advice and development and to identify areas that were absent from pivotal conversations like 'the talk.' In this qualitative survey study, we asked lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) women to design the messages they wish their parents had provided about intimate health in their adolescence in light of the messages that they did receive. Findings suggest that ideal messages from parents would include a tone of positivity and affirmation, validation of diverse sexual and gender identities, and practical information about navigating changing bodies, sexual and reproductive health and contraception, as well as information about consent and negotiating sexual relationships. Although fewer, some participants believed these conversations are better suited for education systems and teachers than parents.

samenvatting: Straightjacket discusses how Chinese same-sex-oriented persons deal with family law. It asks how they respond to the pressure of getting married, giving birth and securing eldercare. Instead of seeing this "straight" life path only as oppression, the author highlights the seductive legal and social benefits it offers. The interdisciplinary study combines rigorous legal analysis with the vivid life stories of more than 60 respondents interviewed in ethnographic fieldwork. It depicts how Chinese same-sex-oriented people obey, utilize and/or resist the legal and social norms on marriage, parenthood and eldercare. This study reflects on controversial issues such as cooperative marriage (xinghun, between lesbian woman and gay man) and 'fraudulent' marriage (pianhun, between same-sex-oriented man and "unwitting" straight woman). In this context, it problematizes the binaries of in/out, gay/straight and lie/truth produced by the "epistemology of the closet". This thesis therefore calls for a beyond-marriage approach of legal reform, so as to benefit both same-sex couples and other non-normative relationships. This is a volume in the series of the Meijers Research Institute and Graduate School of the Leiden Law School of Leiden University. This study is part of the Law School's research programme "Effective Protection of Fundamental Rights in a pluralist world".

De data tezamen geeft input voor een web-based suïcide preventie programma. Alvorens data verzameld wordt vindt eerst een literatuurstudie plaats naar deze thematiek. Dit document is de literatuurstudie en dient als basis voor de verdere aanpak van het onderzoek.

samenvatting: Inleiding : Deze rapportage richt zich op de ouders van lhbt-jongeren die suïcidale gedachten en/of een suïcide poging hebben gedaan. Om een adequate interventie te ontwerpen behulpzaam voor lhbt-jongeren is het perspectief van de ouders in deze problematiek tot op heden te weinig in beeld geweest. Met deze rapportage willen we zicht krijgen hoe de ouders ervaren en denken over de volgende thema's bij de lhbt jongeren die kampen met suïcidaliteit: signalen en reacties rondom de suïcidaliteit van lhbt-jongeren, zorg hulp en behoefte, omgang met de lhbt-identiteit, de gezinsachtergrond en de huidige situatie. In dit rapport worden concrete aanbevelingen en tips gegeven voor ouders en de hulpverlening. In de conclusie wordt gekeken wat de aanbevelingen en tips kunnen betekenen voor de te ontwikkelen online interventie voor de lhbt-jongeren en voor de website Iedereen is anders.
